After training for almost six months the under 15 side finally kicked off their first league game and it seemed to be off to a bad start as we only had 10 players available to play and no recognised goalkeeper.Manager Ricardo Soares however knew that this team had the ability to win any game with only 10 players having seen them train so hard ready for the season.
We did not dissapoint and after twenty eight minutes Man of the Match Ashley Anjorin provided an amazing assist for striker Craig Doyle tofinish with an fantastic volley leaving St Marys wondering how they can be 1-0 down to only 10 players. However with only 30 seconds to half time Whistlers conceded the softest goal you will ever see.
The second half was one of controversy, after 10 minutes Anjorin from a corner assisted Joseph Khan who headed home what turned out to be the winning goal.
Whistlers had two goals dissallowed from a corner Anjorin directed the ball into the net but the referee deemed that the ball had not crossed the line.
Antonio Anderson had a goal dissallowed after an off-side desicion and also missed a penaltty
Congratulations also to Khan who has just finished a two week trial at Wimbledon FC
Goals: Craig Doyle, Joseph Khan.
28th September 2002St. Josephs 5 Whistlers 1
After seven minutes of the first half Whistlers were leading after trialist boy MO
crossed for Danny Silva to tap the ball into the back of the net.
However a lack of concentration for the rest of the match saw Whistlers loose the
game 5-1 but it was a good game against a premiership team and the boys passed the ball
around but errors from the defence and goalkeeper granted St. Joseph their goals.
Goal: Danny Silva

A great show of football from the Whistlers; man of the match was Craig Doyle who scored four classy goals from all over the pitch. Also on the score sheet was Danny Dasilva with a hat-trick after much persuasion and hard work
Ashley Anjorin also got two brilliant goals one a 25 yard shot the goalkeeper couldn't keep out.
The whole team played well especially the defense with Michael Blenman at the centre of it making sure we didn't concede many goals.
WELL DONE LADS
